A subtle blend of tradition and modernity
It is now the most densely-populated town in France, a direct result of the capital’s economic growth and influence. Once upon a time, Levallois was just a suburb of Clichy. The land here fell under the bailiwick of the Abbey of Saint Denis, and was used primarily for winegrowing. The town of Levallois-Perret was not officially established until 1867 thanks to a property deal struck by Nicolas Eugène Levallois. The town soon became home to major industrial facilities such as the Millez biscuit factory and the Citroën automobile plant. Many leading international firms still have their headquarters here.
